A few months after losing my Welsh Corgi, Tucker, I knew how much I wanted another dog in my life. Tucker and I worked as a therapy dog team together for over ten years. In making my
decision to get a new puppy, I knew I wanted a different breed but decided to stay in the same AKC herding group.I decided on an Australian Shepherd. I researched breeders in California and selected four breeders to reach out to. Chris at TrueHope Aussies stood out from all the others breeders from the first phone call. Her puppy questionnaire was extensive and asked questions that most breeders don’t ask. After submitting my completed puppy questionnaire, I received a call within five minutes. Chris and I had a lengthy conversation and I knew that Chris was truly focused on finding quality homes for her puppies. During our conversation, Chris talked about Puppy Culture. I researched this program of raising confident puppies. I decided to actually take the Puppy Culture course myself. I recommend that if you’re thinking of bringing home a new puppy you should take this course! It was and eye opener and teaches you the developmental milestones week-by-week in a puppy’s life. I have worked with many breeders in the past and Chris is the most professional breeder I have worked with. She is organized and provided extensive information on the genetic health certificates for both Sydney’s Mom and Dad, food, treats, training techniques. Chris has positive communication skills and is always available for questions and brainstorming issues. You can feel her enthusiasm and love for the Aussie breed. The day Sydney was born, Chris provided pictures, videos and each week thereafter, I received updates on Sydney’s development with more pictures and videos. I have taken Sydney out for a new adventure every day since I brought Sydney home. Everyone that has met Sydney can’t believe how “chilled” he is for an 8 week old puppy and an Aussie puppy! Thanks to Chris, Puppy Culture and her diligent work with all her puppies, Sydney will become a fantastic therapy dog! I am truly grateful for Chris’s professionalism! |

Chris is a great breeder! She cares deeply about the health and wellbeing of her dogs and puppies. She did a great job keeping us up to date on the puppies’ progress during the first 8 weeks of their lives. So many adorable pictures and videos. While they are in her care, she uses puppy culture to help create resilience in the puppies and socializes and trains them to set them up for success in their forever homes.
Chris has been great at providing support after we picked up Nova by sharing advice and suggestions for how to help him thrive in our home. There came the point when it was time to complete our family and property with our dream dog and we were so fortunate to have found Chris and her amazing Aussies! Chris was so thorough throughout the entire process. From the time the puppies were bred, born and throughout the waiting period, Chris kept us up to date on how our Kai girl was doing and sent plenty of pictures for us all to enjoy. We are so fortunate to have gone through our puppy journey with Chris. From our first intro call to puppy pick up day and everything in between — she has been an absolute lifeline. I couldn’t be happier with the entire experience of getting Sadie. I knew my experience would be very comfortable with Chris, as we were childhood friends, and to be able to reconnect with her through the puppy experience has been a blessing. My first visit with Chris, was then my daughter Whitney picked up her puppy Benson. After spending some time with sweet Benson I reached out to Chris to say “I love him so much” and that “I’d like a Puppy from your next litter” Benson and Sadie are brother and sister, just from a different litter.
They share the same Mom (Mazie)and Dad(Solo) and, which I might add, are two absolutely beautiful and friendly Dogs. Chris stays connected with you every step of the way, by keeping you updated on the puppies progress and send puppy photos, and emails to help you get organized for when it’s time to pick your pup up. When we picked up Sadie she was 8weeks old, and was already crate trained, mostly potty trained and leash trained. Sadie is now 12 weeks old and is so smart, silly, and full of puppy kisses. I had to reach out to Chris with questions on leash training, and she is always so helpful with providing me with the information or Zoom Video! Chris truly cares about all her pups and their well-being, I would recommend TrueHope Aussies to anyone looking to add an amazing Aussie to their family! We couldn't be more pleased in our experience getting Benson. Getting a puppy is always a bit nerve wracking, whether you're new to this or not, and Chris is there for you every step of the way. We do not say that lightly either. One of the main reasons we felt so comfortable going to a breeder was knowing just HOW much Chris cares for each and every puppy. She doesn't miss any details. She told me at the beginner she would be a life line and that statement has held true. Also, you will NOT be disappointed. We are over the moon with our puppy and so amazed at how smart and alert he is. She takes so much time and preparation in getting these pups ready for their furever homes and I couldn't be any more grateful to her for that! Our pup is only 3 1/2 months currently and we constantly get compliments on how handsome he is and how well behaved he is too! (But we already know that!) Willow is now 10 weeks old, and has filled our home with love, smiles and puppy kisses. The puppy culture training Chris raises her puppies with, truly is effective and works. The puppy came to use leash trained, mostly potty trained, started on crate training and had confidence, and was able to come to our home and adjust immediately She gave us lots of training tips to make the adjustment quiet easily. We are so blessed to have purchased our sweet puppy from Chris, and know our Willow will be amazing.

"When searching for the right breeder for our dream Aussie, we were so fortunate to have come across True Hope Aussies. From our first phone call with Chris to our very last puppy training class, she has been so thorough with the information she gives to any questions that we have had. When she introduced us to our Winston, we instantly fell in love with him. Chris was very diligent to send us pictures each week and update us on the new things she was teaching him. When the day finally arrived for us to take Winston home, Chris did everything possible to set us up for success. She provided a list of the best supplies (food, flea spray, crate, etc.) for Winston and gave us a run down of all the things to do for him as new puppy parents. "I was unquestionably led to Chris Wheatley after the heartbreaking loss of an aussie. I grieved for more than a year before I sought out a responsible breeder. I still don't know how I found Chris but know it was meant to be. I have said to Chris often, "If I knew then what I know now...." poor practice by a breeder with our first aussie led to thousands of $ in trainer and vet bills. While he was loved beyond measure, he was not well. This time, I knew in my search for a breeder that they had to practice responsible breeding for health issues, early socialization and positive training methods. They had to have a working knowledge of Aussie traits and MDR1 gene issues relating to medicine sensitivity. My first call with Chris covered every one of these without my asking. I thought I was interviewing her but she was putting me through the paces to see if I was worthy of one of her pups! ( Even before an application.)Once she decided we might be worthy of one of her precious pups we became extended family. On that first call, she understood, listened and reassured for over an hour while I sobbed about our previous experiences. When Paisley went into labor, I got pup by pup updates. Chris does not promise a particular pup. Personalities and your home needs are evaluated and matched. A few pups are chosen to chose from.
I didn't know what Puppy Culture was before this and now I sing it's praises to everyone with an aussie. The time, effort and work involved are a full time job. No one would invest this type of effort if they didn't love these dogs with all their heart. I won't go into detail as you can see much of it on the FB page. I will tell you the results are amazing! Our pup feared nothing, except deer lol.
When you get your puppy, he/she comes with a folder of health details on the lineage, training information and so much more. A blanket Momma has slept with, a ball and food for the trip home. Cleanser for their feet after potty stops. So much information and their shot records. There are even puppy classes available. I really recommend those! Chris loves follow up pictures and updates on the pups. When a pup goes to its new home it's still in her heart. Every health or training issue, Chris is right there to help or advise. I just can't say enough good about her methods and results. I have yet to see better marked, healthier pups anywhere. I am stopped constantly by people telling me that my Fisher is the best looking dog they have ever seen. I agree 😊."

"I am Kaysie Li Roth and I am 15 years old. Rusty is my first dog, and first Australian Shepherd, but not our first family dog. When I first got Rusty, aka True Hope’s Rustic Treasure, I was so excited that I could barely stay in my own skin.

"Finding a puppy to join your family is a very hard and stressful task to do these days. From our first contact, I knew Chris was the one who would pair us with our Fur baby. Every interaction with Chris was genuine and helpful. She answered any questions that we had and ensured to get to know our family in order to pair us with the best Aussie. Chris provided weekly pupdates and even sent additional pictures throughout the weeks to ensure we didn’t miss a moment of our pups life. She also provided helpful information about our pups life stages, medicines to avoid, and even a list of things to have so that we were prepared for our pup. By the time we took our pup home, she was already crate trained, would successfully mand, sit, and even spin!!!
Our pup is now 18 weeks and we have completed training with Chris. Throughout the period of our sessions Chris sent us tutorials and gave us tips on how to overcome any challenges. Yuki (our puppy) is now potty trained; crate trained and knows over 15 tricks. Chris’s training prepared us as Yuki’s PuP-parents to not only show her awesome tricks but also to navigate Yuki’s temperament and personality and bring out the best in her.
Chris genuinely loves her Aussies and the best thing is that we know she loves her pups as well. By going with Truehope we didn’t only, gain a pup, but also a lifelong friend! Our pup is now 18 weeks and we have completed training with Chris. Throughout the period of our sessions Chris sent us tutorials and gave us tips on how to overcome any challenges. Yuki (our puppy) is now potty trained; crate trained and knows over 15 tricks. Chris’s training prepared us as Yuki’s PuP-parents to not only show her awesome tricks but also to navigate Yuki’s temperament and personality and bring out the best in her.

" From the beginning, I knew getting a True Hope Aussie would be a great fit. Chris really invests in not only her puppies, but also the families they go to. We had a long conversation learning about each other so that we both knew this was the right placement (for us and the puppy). Before the puppies were even born, Chris was checking in on the dog we already had- out of her genuine love of animals. Chris has since become like extended family. She is always there for questions, tips, and just someone to talk to.
When we brought River (our Aussie) home, I felt extremely prepared. I've always owned dogs; however, Chris made sure I was filled in on the differences in an Aussie. River has been easy to train, teaches us how to find the adventure in all situations, and (the main reason I wanted a True Hope Aussie) her temperament is incredible.

"I am so glad that I stumbled upon Chris’s page. I had been searching for the right Aussie breeder for what felt like ages & just from our first conversation, I knew she was the one. She checked-in when mama Paisley went into heat, when the pups were born, sent tons of pictures of Bruce (my puppy) until I was able to come pick him up, and even a couple of FaceTime calls to see him “live” which I SO appreciated, given that I lived too far to visit.
